The U20 Barthés Trophy is the only Rugby Africa junior tournament. The tournament is composed of 12 teams.
The 2018 U20 Barthés Trophy will be composed of three ranking-based groups in which each team will play two matches.
The winner of the Pool C will be promoted in Pool B, the winner of Pool B will be promoted in Pool A, the loser of Pool A will be relegated in Pool B, the loser of Pool B will be relegated in Pool C, and the loser of Pool C will let his place for a new team in 2020.

The Pool C will be held between the 8th and 11th of May 2019 in Kampala, Uganda and is composed of:
- The last team ranked will be relegated to let its place in 2020 to a new team which will be selected by application and evaluation of the level of development of the union by our RDO and RTM.
- If a team refuses to play, or abandons the match or is being expelled from the match, its opponent will be declared winner of the said match and will be awarded unless otherwise decided by RA four points.
