“Morocco showed what is possible when we align vision with execution”- Rugby Africa President Praises Royal Moroccan Rugby Rugby Federation
Rugby Africa President Issues Letter of Appreciation to Royal Moroccan Rugby Rugby Federation for the Successful Hosting of the 2025 Seminar in Morocco:
It was a profound honour to be in Morocco – a country I have deep passion for and an unwavering respect towards. To host our 2025 International Seminar on African Rugby Development in the beautiful city of Saidia is strategic and visionary. We were joined by representatives from over 23 rugby unions across Africa – CEOs, Presidents, and decision-makers – who came together with one aim: to build a stronger, united future for African rugby.
My deepest appreciation goes to the Royal Moroccan Rugby Federation (FRMR) and to my brother, President of FRMR Hicham Oubaja, whose leadership, vision and hospitality were nothing short of exceptional.
From the opening ceremony to the gala dinner, from our presence in Oujda to the energising “Get Into Rugby “activity on the ground – Rugby Africa witnessed the beauty of Morocco, as well as the impact and seriousness of the rugby development work being done at grassroots and elite levels.
This was a demonstration of what is possible when a nation – and a federation – share our vision for progress and for unity in service of something greater. The Royal Moroccan Rugby Federation, in collaboration with the Oriental Development Agency and key government partners, showed what it means to be fit for purpose.
We had crucial conversations on the future of school rugby, the university pipeline, and the Olympic pathway. These discussions are not abstract – they are foundational to the future of our sport on the African continent. We have built momentum, but collaboration is key. Morocco showed what is possible when we align vision with execution.
To President Hicham, to FRMR, and to the people of Morocco – I thank you deeply.
Herbert Mensah,
President, Rugby Africa
