More than 3 months after the postponement of the final of the DOPPEL TOP 20 2021, initially scheduled for December 19, USA (Ankadifotsy) and COSFA (Miaramila), the two contenders for the national title, were finally able to compete in front of more than 18,000 enthusiastic spectators.
The tone was set from the first minutes. The referee summoned the two captains several times to extinguish the first flames that could have set the final on fire. USA opened the proceedings with a first penalty (0-3) which rewarded their offensive efforts at the beginning of the game. COSFA took the lead a few minutes later (5-3) following their first real attack. The two teams multiplied the offensives without much success due to an excess of haste. COSFA, more experienced, took advantage of a moment of indiscipline of the USA to score two penalties (17th and 23rd minutes) and bring the score to 11-3. In numerical inferiority, following a yellow card, COSFA underwent the strong pressure of the eagles of USA and cashed a converted try (11-10) at the 30th minute. Taking advantage of a yellow card given to a USA player, COSFA scored a second unconverted try shortly before the end of the first half (16-10, 40th minute).
From the beginning of the second half, COSFA imposed the physical power of its forwards. Each scrum resulted in a penalty against the USA Eagles. Two converted tries (41st and 51st) increased the score in favor of the COSFA soldiers (30-10). Ten minutes of asphyxiating pressure will have been the reason of the hopes of victory of the USA. Despite two magnificent tries at the 55th minute (unconverted) and at the 75th minute (converted), the Eagles conceded two penalties (57th and 79th minutes), and a drop-goal (67th minute) which punctuated the final score at 39-22 in favor of COSFA.
COSFA thus wins its fourth consecutive national title and brings its record to six final victories in the Madagascar Federal 1 Championship. A special mention to the Eagles of USA.
