RUGBY AFRICA PUBLIC NOTICE: IMPERSONATION AND FRAUD WARNING
CAPE TOWN, South Africa – Rugby Africa hereby issues this public notice to alert stakeholders, partners, educational institutions, and the general public to ongoing fraudulent activities involving the unlawful impersonation of Rugby Africa and its representatives in Kenya.
It has come to our attention that certain individuals are falsely presenting themselves as acting on behalf of Rugby Africa and are reportedly engaging with institutions, including Tharaka University, Waa Primary School, and others, in an apparent attempt to solicit cooperation, support, and/or funds under false pretences.
Rugby Africa wishes to state that:
- These individuals are not affiliated with, authorized by, or representing Rugby Africa in any capacity;
- Rugby Africa has no involvement in, endorsement of, or connection to these activities whatsoever;
- Any communications, requests, proposals, or financial solicitations made by such persons are fraudulent and should be treated with extreme caution.
Rugby Africa further reminds all organizations, institutions, and individuals that the use of Rugby Africa’s name, logo, branding, or identity in any form is strictly prohibited without prior written authorization from Rugby Africa. Any unauthorized use may constitute trademark infringement, misrepresentation, and/or fraud, and may result in legal action.
Rugby Africa strongly advises all members of the public, institutions, and partners not to engage with, respond to, or provide any funds or support in relation to such communications without prior verification through Rugby Africa’s official channels.
This matter is being treated with the utmost seriousness. Rugby Africa is actively reviewing the situation and reserves all rights to pursue appropriate legal and administrative action against those responsible, including referral to relevant authorities in Kenya and internationally where applicable.
We further urge any institution or individual who may have been approached by persons claiming affiliation with Rugby Africa, or who may have information regarding these activities, to report the matter immediately.
